NY PRIVATE ESTATE
Tucked into the bucolic backdrop of the Dover Plains countryside, this 160-acre compound features outdoor living spaces that have been carefully crafted to celebrate the sites extraordinary views, rich farm culture, and ecological diversity.
An existing meandering gravel road framed by a mature maple allée is realigned to meet the proposed residence. Adjacent to the residence, the swimming pool is located on an elevated platform defined by a stone wall, set to work seamlessly with the existing topography and positioned to frame dramatic views to the greater landscape. A series of rectilinear retaining walls made from native stone define outdoor living spaces including an entry auto court, courtyard garden, apple orchard, outdoor event space and floating boat dock.
Working closely with the client and the local building architect, the design creates a cohesive vision for the property incorporating locally-sourced materials and a diverse palette of indigenous vegetation that complements the architecture and promotes native habitat. Lou was the Lead Designer and Project Manager for New York Private Estate while at Land Collective.
